He realizes that the Socs are insincere and superficial. While he is having a conversation with Cherry, he begins to analyze how the Socs act and behave. Ponyboy has two major conflicts in the story:Įducators go through a rigorous application process, and every answer they submit is reviewed by our in-house editorial team. Pony is being raised by his 20-year-old brother, Darry, after the death of his parents in an automobile accident. Pony is the 14-year-old younger brother of Darry and Sodapop Curtis. He is empathetic toward his friends and is selfless and brave, as is demonstrated in his reaction to the church fire. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy Curtis is intelligent and gets good grades in school. What kind of character is Ponyboy in the Outsiders? His gang is into robbing things, fighting, being outgoing, swearing, and Ponyboy is just plainly into books. Like Ponyboy, he is even an outsider in his own gang because he is immensely different. Fitting in is everything, and sometimes people try to change for their friends, or groups. Ponyboy is caring and gentle, and a different type of greaser. What are the main character characteristics of Ponyboy? His feelings about hiself stay throughout the book. Reason 3: Dynamic One reason we think Pony is dynamic because his life is changing with having to run away for being a part of murder. Flat characters are people such as Darry, Two-Bit, and Steve. Reason 2: Static Another reason we think he is static is because none of the characters do anything with Pony. Throughout the book some characters that are round are Johnny Cade, and Ponyboy. Flat characters are people that barely change and are very uninteresting.
