The list of ‘power’ terms associated with the junction of foreign policy and armed conflicts includes ‘soft power,’ ‘hard power,’ and ‘smart power’ (Gray, 2011 Kounalakis and Simonyi, 2011 Select Committee, 2014). However, recent research has revealed that there are also other approaches to armed conflicts that go beyond kinetic activities of hard power (Wagner, 2005). A rmed conflict as a form of violent political activity is normally associated with the use of hard power (Matlary, 2006).
